• It is based on transformer technology that allows it to remember and use previous input data. And therefore ChatGPT can generate texts that resemble a natural dialogue. Moreover, it works without a pre-prescribed script and human control.
• Although ChatGPT does not have real knowledge, it is still a valuable tool that can help users get answers to their queries in just a couple of clicks, instead of spending hours searching on Google.

What ChatGPT can do

• Write code. The chatbot tells you how to perform an operation or process, and also looks for bugs or translates code from one programming language to another.
• Create scripts. Using ChatGPT, you can generate new episodes of old TV series or set specific tasks for the heroes of the cinematic universe. The chatbot is also able to generate a game based on the movie.

Midjourney is a neural network that creates images based on a text query. You may have already seen its works on the Internet, but they cause a heated discussion on the web, because it jeopardizes the work of designers.

• After logging in via Discord on the official Midjourney website, you can subscribe or use the free version.
• The free version allows you to create and download up to 12 images but does not provide access to a personal account that allows you to track created requests in a shared chat.
• For a subscription fee you can create up to 200 images or an unlimited number of images.
•  A corporate subscription is also available, which allows company employees to create pictures in a team and view each other’s individual work.

Moreover, the percentage of such companies has grown by 270% over the past four years. The speed of implementation in all industries is growing exponentially.

Experts identify these five key AI trends for 2023

The popularity of adaptive artificial intelligence (Adaptive AI) will increase. Gartner speaks about this trend in its forecast for 2023. 

• The technology allows systems to self-learn and adapt to changing conditions right in the process of work.

For example, the US Army and Air Force have created an educational platform that personalizes lectures and training materials for each student, taking into account their strengths and weaknesses. It knows what to teach, when to test, and how to evaluate progress. The program works as an individual tutor.

• AI will be actively applied in the field of HR.

Artificial intelligence can automate a variety of tasks related to HR – search and selection of future employees according to certain criteria, resume parsing, onboarding, and training using chatbots or virtual teachers, prediction of employee burnout, and so on.

• Artificial intelligence will be increasingly used for automation.

Everything is simple here – as AI technologies improve, we can expect automation in an increasing number of areas, from repetitive technical tasks to back-office operations.

• A boom in applications based on generative artificial intelligence will begin.

This type of AI is responsible for creating new, original content – images, videos, music, and more – without the need for human intervention. Services like Dall-E, Stable Diffusion, and ChatGPT gained huge popularity in 2022, and it is expected that content generation using AI will become even more common.

• Digital avatars and metaverses will continue to gain momentum.

Should we fear artificial intelligence or not?

Many experts express their concerns about the further introduction of artificial intelligence into everyday human life. Some predict widespread unemployment and an increase in social inequality. Will artificial intelligence one day surpass human intelligence?

Such a phenomenon is called technological singularity, a hypothetical moment in the future when technological development becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, which generates radical changes in the nature of human civilization.

But even at the initial stage of using artificial intelligence, problems appear!

Example: AI algorithms are created by people, which means they cannot be 100% objective and impartial. For example, Amazon spent years developing an algorithm for analyzing resumes, but was never able to use it because of the system’s discrimination against women. Most of the previously accepted resumes that AI evaluated were from men, so the algorithm taught itself that men are preferable to women.

What is more, the creator of the sensational chatbot ChatGPT is already afraid of his own brainchild. Chatbot is currently the fastest-growing application in the world. Recently, it has passed the math exams at an American school and the exam for a law degree.

But Sam Altman, Chief Executive Officer of OpenAI, says that the potential of ChatGPT is immense, and he fears what it could result in. So far, the program only reacts to the orders of a person and is under their control.

But he says that there will be those who will lift the restrictions that they have imposed on it.

Today it seems that artificial intelligence only makes our life easier. Many AI services or apps can be used in various fields like PR, marketing and finance or even in ordinary life to shake up the routine. 

At the same time, the use of AI is a topic of eternal disputes and heated debates. There are many other concerns related to the development and implementation of artificial intelligence, including the loss of  jobs and ethical issues. There is also a risk of AI being used for criminal purposes, for example, to create autonomous weapons or spread fake news. Social inequality — people with access to these technologies can gain a significant advantage over those who do not have them.

That is why society needs to figure out early on how it will deal with these problems  in the future.
